One of Stefan’s enduring passions is for Abbeydale china. This highly collectable porcelain was manufactured for a few years in a tiny factory in his home village of Duffield in Derbyshire when Stefan was at school there. The factory was housed in an old chapel that in the nineteenth century had been a school run by his great-grandmother. Stefan has collected the china avidly ever since and is now the pre-eminent authority on the subject and plans one day to publish a definitive book on the history of the factory and its wares.
